ZAGREB, Jan 19 (Hina) - Savo Todovic, a Bosnian Serb accused of warcrimes, on Wednesday asked the UN tribunal in The Hague for 30 daysbefore entering his plea to 18 counts of an indictment charging himwith crimes against humanity, and
violations of the Geneva Conventionsand the customs of war which he committed as deputy head of a prisonin Foca, Bosnia-Herzegovina, from April 1992 to August 1993.
ZAGREB, Jan 19 (Hina) - Savo Todovic, a Bosnian Serb accused of war
crimes, on Wednesday asked the UN tribunal in The Hague for 30 days before
entering his plea to 18 counts of an indictment charging him with crimes
against humanity, and violations of the Geneva Conventions and the customs of
war which he committed as deputy head of a prison in Foca, Bosnia-Herzegovina,
from April 1992 to August 1993.In his first appearance before the court, the 52-year-old Todovic asked
to enter his plea in 30 days' time, which request was approved under the
tribunal's Statute.
Todovic voluntarily surrendered to the police in the Bosnian Serb entity
last Saturday, after which he was transferred to The Hague.
He is charged, among other things, with selecting prisoners, mostly
Muslims, for killing, torture, interrogation, forced labour, or exchange.
