"The members of the ECMM who were killed in the helicopter crash near Podrute on January 7, 1992 built their lives into Croatia's path towards independence and today's maturity of its democracy which is factor of stability in the region," Croatia's Assistant Foreign Minister Tomislav Vidosevic said.
He recalled that the members of the ECMM killed in the crash were Colonel Enzo Venturini and lieutenants Marco Matta, Silvano Natale and Fiorenzo Ramacci of Italy, and Lieutenant Jean-Loup Eychenne of France.
The victims were remembered in speeches delivered by the French Ambassador to Croatia, Francois Saint-Paul, a representative of the Monitoring Mission, Roland van Santvoord, a representative of the Italian Embassy, Captain Giorgio Guidizzi, the commander of the Riegel regiment, Brigadier Miana, and the mayor of the Italian town of Sangano, Agnese Ugues.
