ZAGREB, Jan 6 (Hina) - Diplomat Drazen Hrastic and police inspectors Dario Dudas and Ivan Odeljan, who are members of the first Croatian civilian team in the NATO/ISAF peace mission in Afghanistan, on Thursday left Zagreb for Feyzabad in the northeastern province of Badakshan.

The team, which will be in Afghanistan in the next six months, will join the Province Reconstruction Team (PRT) led by Germany.

"Our main task is to help establish institutions of central and provincial authority," Hrastic said.

The fourth contingent of Croatian military police is currently being deployed In Kabul for a six-month mission.

Presenting the first civilian team that will be part of the civilian component of the advisory peace mission in Afghanistan, Croatia's national co-ordinator for NATO, Pjer Simunovic, recently said that with the engagement of the three-member team, Zagreb confirmed its willingness to participate in defusing situations in crisis areas.

The team's engagement in the PRT is in line with a joint declaration on civilian cooperation within the German Provincial Team for the reconstruction of Feyzabad, Afghanistan, signed by the governments of Croatia and Germany in September last year.
