GONG issued a press release on Tuesday saying that according to reports from over 1,000 GONG observers and its 61 mobile teams which monitored the voting on polling day, any speculation about rigged elections could be rejected as unfounded.
"Observers and citizens reported irregularities, and a majority of them referred to situations when people were not able to exercise their right to vote. The number and types of reported irregularities from polling stations in Croatia could not have affected the results of the elections," GONG said.
The organisation called on presidential candidates to corroborate their claims of election fraud with arguments or examples from polling stations in order to clarify their allegations or to refrain from giving unfounded and vague assessments of the election process .
GONG activists said that any comparison of Croatia's presidential polls with recent controversial elections in Ukraine was inappropriate.
