ZAGREB, Dec 18 (Hina) - The team of doctors on the basis of whose opinion the war crimes investigation against member of Parliament Branimir Glavas had been temporarily suspended, said on Monday they stood by their evaluation that Glavas was unfit to take part in court proceedings.

Psychiatrist Vera Folnegovic Smalc and internal medicine specialist Vladimir Gasparovic repeated their opinions before Zagreb County Court investigating judge Zdenko Posavec in a special investigative hearing.

A third member of the medical team, forensic medicine expert Josip Skavic, did not attend. The investigating judge will decide at a later date whether he will summon him to explain the opinion made by the team based on medical documents from the prison hospital and the hospital in Osijek where Glavas is currently receiving treatment.

Judge Posavec must again decide on Glavas after a panel of judges at the Zagreb County Court have annulled his decision to suspend the investigation and release Glavas from custody, and have ordered him to request another medical evaluation of Glavas's mental and physical capacities.

The three-member medical team, formed by Posavec, issued a report on December 2 saying that after a 37-day hunger strike Glavas was incapable of understanding the nature of criminal proceedings or instructions from his defence counsel.
