The two dignitaries discussed coexistence in the formerly occupied Croatian areas, stating that a precondition for coexistence was the creation of an atmosphere of reconciliation and religious tolerance.
"Our priests must convey that message to the faithful so that reconciliation and peace could become a reality," Bishop Fotije said.
Archbishop Prendja said that "spiritual steps are a major contribution to civic life in this region on the road to the EU".
The meeting was also attended by the head of the OSCE Mission to Croatia, Jorge Fuentes, a state secretary at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Tourism, Transport and Development, Zdravko Livakovic, and Member of Parliament Milorad Pupovac, representative of the Serb minority.
Fuentes and Pupovac said that the meeting was of great importance for the normalisation of relations between Croats and Serbs in the formerly occupied areas of Croatia.
Bishop Fotije and Archbishop Prendja announced the continuation of cooperation in the spirit of ecumenism.
