Bejahad traditionally organises meetings of Jews from the territory of the former Yugoslavia. Last year's meeting in Hvar, opened by Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, resulted in "Unity Through Culture", a political appeal for reconciliation and improvement of relations between Europe's Jews and Muslims. On that occasion, Salamon and Ceric signed a document calling for opposing animosities.
Yesterday, Ceric gave a talk about Europe's Muslim cultural identity, saying that culture was the only way to free the world from "the nightmare spreading today because of the misinterpretation of civilisational contradictions".
He underlined the need to respect five universal values of the spirit of Europe's culture and civilisation -- life, religion, freedom, property and honour.
