DUBROVNIK, Dec 6 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader on Wednesday held talks with representatives of Montenegrin Croats during their visit to Dubrovnik on the occasion of St. Nicholas' Day.

The representatives informed the premier about the position of the Croat community in Montenegro.

Sanader said he expected Montenegro, which recently gained independence, to treat minorities in accordance with European standards. He also pledged assistance from Zagreb to Montenegrin Croats.

Sanader added that Croatia would soon open its embassy in Montenegro.

The PM also responded positively to an invitation by the ethnic Croat delegation to visit Montenegro soon.

Sanader and the delegation discussed, among other things, a project for the construction of an Adriatic-Ionian highway connecting Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro with other Adriatic countries.
