The programme council, which convened in Zagreb on Tuesday, pointed to a poor quality of the spoken language and the fact that some broadcasts deal with the same topic, with the same guests, for several days. In this context, the council cited the example of the Kontraplan and Otvoreno political shows that dealt with the issue of Croatian generals on the same day.
The council urged better co-ordination so as to avoid the overlapping of identical topics.
It reminded the HRT leadership of its obligation to honour its agreement with the Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences (HAZU) regarding the coverage of civil society topics and the commemoration of international anniversaries, holidays and important days.
The council will continue its session on 7 December when its chairman Zdenko Ljevak is expected to ask HRT Director-General Mirko Galic to inform the public if he intends to assume an ambassadorial post, as recently speculated by the media.
