THE HAGUE, Nov 28 (Hina) - The trial of Croatian generals Ante Gotovina, Ivan Cermak and Mladen Markac, joined in a single case entitled "Gotovina and Others" will be conducted by Trial Chamber I, following a decision by the President of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), Judge Fausto Pocar.

The case "Gotovina and Others" comprises the Gotovina case and the "Cermak and Markac" case. Before the two cases were joined, Trial Chamber II was in charge of both cases.

The Hague tribunal did not say which three judges from Trial Chamber I would be conducting the case.

The tribunal also released a joint motion by defence counsel for Cermak and Markac dated November 21, which announces that in light of the joinder the two accused would request entering their pleas to the amended indictment via video link.

A year ago, the prosecution of the Hague tribunal amended the indictment against the two generals, but they still have not entered their pleas due to the procedure of joining their case with that of General Ante Gotovina.

Generals Gotovina, Cermak and Markac are charged with war crimes committed against Croatian Serbs during and after the 1995 Operation "Storm".
