ZAGREB, Nov 15 (Hina) - On Wednesday evening the Croatian
Parliament ended a four-hour debate on the decisions by the Credentials and
Privileges Commission to strip independent MP Branimir Glavas of immunity and
approve his detention on suspicion that he had committed war crimes against
civilians in the eastern city of Osijek in 1991. Speaker Vladimir
Seks adjourned the session, announcing that the MIP's decisions would be put to
the vote at a later date, most probably on Friday.
Several times the debate reached boiling point, threatening to escalate
into an incident. Deputies traded recriminations and insults, and one MP,
after being denied the floor, even took her shoes off and banged them on the
bench.
