ZAGREB, Oct 17 (Hina) - The Croatian Parliament Committee on the
Constitution and the Rules of Procedure on Tuesday supported a
government-sponsored bill on the funding of political parties, which bans
acceptance of anonymous donations. The committee endorsed the bill
nearly unanimously, with only a member of the People's Party abstaining from
voting.
The state secretary of the Central State Administration Office, Antun
Palaric, said that the bill showed the government's determination to curb
corruption and "dispel suspicions of political corruption."
Independent MP Slaven Letica remarked that the bill did not regulate
the financing of independent candidates and independent electoral slates.
