ZAGREB, Nov 13 (Hina) - The Croatian Bar Association (HOK) Executive Board on Monday banned Zadar lawyer Marko Marinovic from practicing law until the completion of disciplinary proceedings launched against him on November 6 on suspicion that he had breached a provision regulating the lawyer-client privilege by making statements for the media about his former client Ana Magas.

The Executive Board decided that there were grounds to believe that Marinovic had violated the lawyer-client privilege, HOK president Leo Andreis told reporters.

As for the request to investigate the bill of charges submitted by Marinovic to Magas, the HOK's commission in charge of reviewing bills of charges found that Marinovic had increased his fee without reason.

The Prosecutor's Office in Zadar has requested police to check all media allegations against Marinovic, the husband of former justice minister Ingrid Anticevic Marinovic. The media have accused Marinovic, among other things, of loan-sharking, extortion, and making deals to get amnesty for his clients.

Zadar County Prosecutor Ivan Galovic said that the investigation would be completed in a month.
