Speaking to the press after the meeting, Grabar Kitarovic, who also heads the HDZ branch in Rijeka, said that the incumbent HDZ-led government was making more investments in Rijeka and Primorje-Gorski Kotar County than any former government and cited projects such as a university campus in Rijeka, a university hospital, a lowland railway and the completion of the Rijeka-Zagreb highway.
Asked about claims by the local Social Democratic Party (SDP) branch that the government is not investing enough in those areas where the HDZ is not in power, Vrankovic, who heads the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County HDZ branch, said that statistics spoke enough about investments in that area and that the government was encouraging the even development of all parts of the country.
