We believe that despite this view Russia will keep the unity of the Contact Group and the Security Council. We don't believe Russia has taken such a view just because it wants to support Serbia, Qeku told reporters in Pristina after meeting the UN administrator of the province, Joachim Ruecker.
Qeku said he had requested a meeting with Russian officials to explain Pristina's position and that he was expecting a swift response.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said during talks with his Serbian counterpart Vuk Draskovic on Wednesday that Moscow was opposed to any unilateral or imposed solution for Kosovo.
It is of utmost importance to find a solution that will satisfy both parties. There can be no talk of a UN Security Council resolution before such a solution is found, Lavrov said.
