SVETI MARTIN NA MURI, Oct 10 (Hina) - Construction works on a dyke
on the River Mura near the Croatian municipality Sveti Martin na Muri and the
Slovene municipality Hotiza resumed on Tuesday, an official of local water
management authorities in the northern Croatian town of Varazdin said. Construction works, which are expected to be completed in 90 days, will be
performed by a Croatian-Slovene consortium.
Croatian and Slovene border police officials met today on the border to
discuss rules of conduct during the construction of the dyke.
The 3,100-metre embankment will primarily protect Slovene villages
along the Mura from flooding.
The resumption of construction works is the result of last week's
agreement of a Croatian-Slovene commission in Ljubljana.
