Solana said that he discussed the issue today with Slovene Prime Minister Dimitrij Rupel and that he would discussed it with Croatian Foreign Minister Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic in New York next week.
Slovenia and Croatia are serious countries, one is a member-country and the other is to become an EU member and it is normal for them to be able to solve problems regarding the border on their own, Solana said after a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels.
Slovene Foreign Minister Rupel said today that a Croatian-Slovene agreement on the construction of a dyke on the River Mura had helped overcome "the critical point" in efforts to diffuse the situation on that part of the Croatian-Slovene border.
