In September, the HP stamp with the image of Pope John Paul II was declared by a jury in the Italian town of Legnano as the best stamp made in tribute to the late pontiff.
"Once again has the International Assessment Committee awarded the "San Gabriele" prize to Croatian postage stamp - this time it was "Karol Wojtyla (1920) - Pope John Paul II (2005)" by the author Sanja Rescek," the HP reported on its website.
"This young but already many times awarded paintress, designer and children book illustrator has created a postage stamp depicting John Paul II, using a photography by Gabriel Bouys from France Press, and has received numerous felicitations for her work from persons present at the prize awarding ceremony on 24 September 2006 in the Museo Fioroni in Legnano (Veneto), Italy. Just to remind the reader that the prize San Gabriele is awarded for art design of postage stamp with religious motif and this year was awarded for the 24th time," the HP said on the website
