The decision to cancel the scheduled meeting at the level of political directors of the troika's foreign ministries and Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Ivana Dulic-Markovic has been made because there are no conditions for the meeting, a Finnish official in the Finnish Presidency, Mark Ruonal, was quoted by the Belgrade-based new agency Beta as saying on Friday.
The news agency reported that sources from the European Commission and the Council of Ministers have assessed that the meeting would be pointless as long as there are no signals whether the Serbian government will make "palpable moves" in reaching full cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).
On 29 September, the European Enlargement Commissioner is due to meet the ICTY Chief Prosecutor, Carla del Ponte, who is expected to inform him about the ICTY Prosecution's assessments on whether there is any progress in the implementation of Serbia's action plan for cooperation with the UN tribunal.
On 2 October, del Ponte is arriving in Belgrade for a two-day visit.
