This regional journalist organization was quoted by the dpa news agency on Wednesday as saying that "it was concerned over the deteriorating conditions of work for journalists in Serbia and Croatia."
According to SEEMO, the incidents in Serbia included a knife attack on a moderator in Serbian radio, a libel verdict against a journalist, though his report revealed true facts, along with death threats.
"In Croatia, a Dutch photo reporter was severely beaten, but police police refused to allow him to complain. Several others faced threats to their lives and their families over their work," SEEMO said.
