ZAGREB, Sept 17 (Hina) - The Croatian Peasant Party's (HSS)
pilgrimage to the Marian shrine at Marija Bistrica is not the beginning of
pre-election activities but is a pilgrimage of gratitude to the Mother Mary of
Bistrica, party president Josip Friscic said at the shrine on Sunday. He said this was the first HSS pilgrimage to Marija Bistrica under the
slogan "Faith in God and peasant unity".
He also said that preparations for elections lasted four years and not
a few months, adding that the HSS, with its platform, would be in coalition
with the public, "as confirmed by today's and other HSS gatherings".
Friscic said he believed "that many will melt from making promises
now," but added that "Croatian citizens will decide who will be in power and
who in the opposition".
