ZAGREB, Sept 15 (Hina) - The Croatian Government of Democratic Unity, the first multiparty Croatian government, on Friday marked its 15th anniversary.

This Cabinet, which was also called the war-time government, was in power from August 1991 to August 1992, when the country gained independence and was admitted to the United Nations.

"We have not gathered here (in the Hotel Westin) to give political assessments or any assessments about the work of the Government of Democratic Unity, but we are here to evoke our memories of the period which we perceive as the most important and most honourable in our lives," the head of that government, former Prime Minister Franjo Greguric, said at the dinner which was organised in the hotel to mark the anniversary.

The dinner pooled many members and ministers of the war-time government. Only a few are still active in the political life of Croatia.

Greguric said that today's meeting was also an occasion for them to send a joint message that it was necessary to be more resolute and committed to defending the truth about the period when the Croatian state was being created.
