ZAGREB, Sept 8 (Hina) - Croatia's Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic on Friday confirmed that she twice contacted her Slovene counterpart Dimitrij Rupel by phone to explain the conduct of Croatian policemen who earlier in the day caught Slovene workers being on Croatia's segment of the embankment of the Mura River.

On that occasion she informed Slovenia's Rupel that the Slovene workers had arrived without previous announcements and that "the Croatian police have acted properly and in line with the law", she told Hina.

According to her, she again called for all necessary measures to be taken so as to avert incidents regarding joint activities on the construction of the Mura River embankment.

Earlier on Monday Rupel was quoted in the flagship news programme of the Slovene Television (RTV Slovenia) as saying that he had talked with Grabar-Kitarovic twice on the phone and that he had warned the Croatian minister that the latest incident in the border area on the Mura River was contrary to the agreement which the two prime ministers, Janez Jansa of Slovenia and Ivo Sanader of Croatia, reached six days ago.
