At the start of a government session on Friday, PM Sanader added that the Croatian-Slovene commission was convening today to discuss this issue.
"The purpose of the construction of the Mura River levees on both banks is to protect the population from the both sides of the border from possible floods, without prejudging an agreement on the border," the Croatian premier said.
He recalled that the border-line in that part of the Medjimurje region (northernmost Croatia) had not been confirmed by an agreement between Croatia and Slovenia. However, cadastral lines of plots entered into land books have been confirmed and the levee should be completed, he said urging for cooperation and European solidarity in the process of the construction of the river embankment.
