VUKOVAR, Sept 4 (Hina) - As of Monday, the first day of the new
school year, Vukovar's high school pupils attending classes in the Croatian
language and alphabet and those attending classes in Serbian and the Cyrillic
alphabet will attend them in the same session after nine years.
Those pupils attended classes in different sessions since the peaceful
reintegration of the Danube river region in eastern Croatia after it was
assessed that ethnic conflicts were possible.
"We supported the idea to mix classes as of this year after assessing
the time has matured for this step which is in the interest of both pupils and
teachers, and our goal was also to cut down costs," said Vukovar-Srijem County
prefect Bozo Galic.
