Bosnian Serb presidential candidate wants trials for war crimes committed against Serbs

BANJA LUKA, Aug 19 (Hina) - Slobodan Nagradic, a candidate for the president of Republika Srpska, has called on "all Serb-oriented political parties and non-governmental organisations" in the Bosnian Serb entity to take action to ensure that individuals responsible for the killing of Serbs during the 1995 Croatian military operation "Storm" are brought to justice.

Nagradic, the presidential candidate of his Party of Democratic Progress (PDP), insists that the Chief Public Prosecutor and the State Court of Bosnia-Herzegovina are ethnically biased.

"There is no reason for representatives of Serb political parties, non-governmental organisations and the authorities of Republika Srpska and Serbia not to continue this campaign with the support of the media so that in Bosnia-Herzegovina someone, other than a Serb, would finally be indicted for war crimes," Nagradic said in the Bosnian Serb capital Banja Luka on Saturday.

The Bosnian Chief Public Prosecutor and the State Court will prove their "ethnic impartiality" if before the end of this month they issue indictments for war crimes that were committed against Serbs, he said.

Nagradic specified that indictments should be issued against Bosnian Army soldiers who fought under the command of General Atif Dudakovic and against persons who committed war crimes during Operation Storm in Croatia.
