Under a new law on security and intelligence system, that went into force today, Croatia has two instead of three secret services - the Security Intelligence Agency (SOA) and the Military Security Intelligence Agency (VSOA).
Under the law, the new heads of the two intelligence agency will be elected in 15 days. Until then, the acting directors are Karamanko (SOA) and Cacic (VSOA).
The temporary appointment of Karamanko, former head of the Counter-Intelliegence Agency (POA), and Cacic, former head of the Militaly Security Agency (VSA), was also confirmed by government spokesman Ratko Macek.
