The service, held on the Day of Our Lady of the Snow, was conducted by the bishop of Celje and president of the Slovene Bishops Conference's commission "Prava i mir", Anton Stres, and Zagreb auxiliary bishop Vlado Kosic.
A plaque commemorating the anniversary of Stepinac's climb of Mt. Triglav was unveiled during the event.
The event, which took place at the altitude of 2,500 metres, was attended by numerous Slovene climbers and some 50 climbers from Croatia. Stepinac is the only blessed member of the Catholic Church to have climbed Mt. Triglav.
Bishop Stres said that after 70 years Stepinac was uniting Catholics from Slovenia and Croatia.
The bishop also spoke about relations between Slovenia and Croatia, noting that problems between them were not so serious that they could not be solved, and that solving them was an obligation of Croatian and Slovene politicians.
Stres underlined Stepinac's role in helping Slovene Catholic priests who were exiled to Croatia in 1941.
Today's event was initiated by the Croatian Pastoral Office in Ljubljana, in cooperation with Triglav parish priest Franc Urbani.
