Under the agreement, Montenegro's state prosecution will issue indictments against its citizens who have been accused of war crimes in Croatia and are not available to Croatian courts.
Bajic said that thanks to the agreement, borders would no longer be obstacles to the prosecution of all criminals, notably those accused of war crimes. He added data on the number of persons under investigation for war crimes in Croatia would be submitted to the Montenegrin state prosecution.
Medenica said the agreement was in the interest of Montenegrin citizens accused in cases before Croatian courts as they would be able to defend themselves before Montenegrin courts. She added the agreement would apply for crimes committed in Croatia, against its citizens, by people with Montenegrin residence or citizenship.
The Montenegrin parliament speaker's advisor on security, General Blagoje Grahovac, welcomed the signing of the agreement, saying it represented a clear test of Montenegro's political maturity. "To really demonstrate it, the first to be prosecuted should be the ideologists, inspirators and commanders of the familiar policy of war for peace".
