SUBOTICA, July 18 (Hina) - The Democratic League of Croats in
Vojvodina (DSHV) on Tuesday protested against the fact that the new leadership
of Vojvodina's Radio Broadcasting (RUV) did not include the Croatian National
Council (HNV), the umbrella body of the Croat minority in Serbia, in the
creation of the Croatian-language programme. In a protest letter
forwarded to the RUV manager, the DSHV recalled that Serbian Prime Minister
Vojislav Kostunica personally vowed the programme's editor would not be
appointed without the HNV's consent, but said the opposite was happening.
"If the HNV's decisions continue to be ignored, the Croatian minority's
right to information in the Croatian language will not be adequately exercised
again and we will be forced to seek legal and political protection from the
most senior domestic and international bodies," read the letter.
