ZAGREB, June 7 (Hina) - The Programmes Council of the Croatian broadcasting company (HRT) said on Wednesday that allegations made by journalist Denis Latin about corruption and conflict of interest within the HRT were not proved.
ZAGREB, June 7 (Hina) - The Programmes Council of the Croatian broadcasting company (HRT) said on Wednesday that allegations made by journalist Denis Latin about corruption and conflict of interest within the HRT were not proved.

The HRT Programmes Council called on the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor to give a statement about the allegations which Latin forwarded to the Office.

Three members of the Council announced that they would sue Latin after he accused them of corruption.

Latin today reiterated his allegations.

The HRT Director-General Mirko Galic said Latin's statements were groundless as had been shown by an internal audit and relevant services.

In late May, the parliament's media committee held a heated debate on the allegations made by Latin, who said that the national broadcasting corporation was affected by corruption. The committee concluded that Latin must not be harassed at his workplace after he had accused some senior HRT officials of bribery.

The committee also suggested that all information about possible abuse of office should be sent to relevant HRT bodies and the Office of the State Prosecutor.

It also asked the HRT to notify it about the number of special contracts signed by HRT employees and the HRT and about incomes provided for under such contracts.
