Interpol in Zagreb was notified by Interpol in The Hague on June 1 that the UN war crimes tribunal's police arrested Suljic on an international warrant and that he was placed in the tribunal prison's hospital due to health problems, the Ministry said.
The Ministry added it had notified the Justice Ministry so that it could submit an extradition request and the accompanying documentation to the Netherlands.
The international warrant for Suljic's arrest was issued last year following a guilty verdict in a retrial for war crimes committed in Pakracka Poljana.
Last month, the Supreme Court confirmed the sentence handed down by the Zagreb County Court, raising the conviction from 10 to 12 years' imprisonment.
