Serb gets 20 years for war crimes in east Bosnia

SARAJEVO, May 26 (Hina) - The State Court of Bosnia-Herzegovina on Friday sentenced Bosnian Serb Dragoje Paunovic to 20 years in prison for war crimes in eastern Bosnia.
SARAJEVO, May 26 (Hina) - The State Court of Bosnia-Herzegovina on Friday sentenced Bosnian Serb Dragoje Paunovic to 20 years in prison for war crimes in eastern Bosnia.

According to the Court's verdict, Paunovic, a former commander of Bosnian Serb forces in the area of Rogatica, is responsible for war crimes committed against local Bosnian Muslims (Bosniaks).

The verdict reads that Paunovic was personally involved in the killing of 27 Bosniaks.

Paunovic has been in the Court's detention centre since March 2005 and he will remain in custody until the announcement of a final verdict.
