"I am proud of Serbia and want to serve the country," Karadjordjevic said at a press conference in Belgrade.
He said he strongly believed in Serbia as a constitutional monarchy, citing Great Britain, Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain as examples of stable monarchies. "The king respects all political parties and is a member of none. That is why kingdoms are stable."
Commenting on Sunday's independence referendum in Montenegro, the crown prince said he was sad about the outcome of the vote, but that he wished his Montenegrin brothers democracy, prosperity and happiness.
The Serbian Renewal Movement of Foreign Minister Vuk Draskovic said in a statement on Wednesday it strongly supported Karadjordjevic's call for the restoration of the constitutional parliamentary monarchy as "the fastest and shortest way to Europe and Euro-Atlantic integration."
