ZAGREB, May 20 (Hina) - The biggest problem of Croats expelled from Vojvodina who now live in Croatia are Serbia and Montenegro's low pensions, which amount to an average 800 kuna, the Association of Croats Expelled from Srijem, Backa and Banat said at its conference in Zagreb on Saturday.

The Association appealed to all competent bodies in Croatia to settle this problem as urgently as possible, saying that nothing had been done so far despite numerous promises, even by President Stjepan Mesic and Prime Minister Ivo Sanader.

Mato Juric was elected Association president for a third two-year term of office.

The Association was set up on 28 December 1991 to help Croats who were expelled during the Serbian aggression from Srijem, Backa and Banat, regions in the northern Serbian province of Vojvodina. Some 45,000 Croats came to Croatia in the early 1990s.

According to the 2002 census, there are 56,000 Croats in Vojvodina. That year they were recognised as a national minority in Serbia and Montenegro.
