The talks, which took place at the Swiss minister's invitation following their meeting in Croatia last year, specifically focused on the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in Croatia and Switzerland's experience in that area, the Croatian ministry said in a statement.
Another topic discussed was the present structure of trade and investment, which was said to be disproportionate as Croatian investments in Switzerland considerably exceeded Swiss ones in Croatia.
From 1993 to 2005, Croatia's investments in Switzerland amounted to EUR649 million, compared to Switzerland's EUR 169 million worth of investments in Croatia.
Praising Switzerland for its investments in the Croatian manufacturing sector, Vukelic called on Swiss companies to increase their investments in Croatia.
Switzerland said it was particularly interested in Croatia becoming a regional leader in Southeast Europe, and Vukelic noted that economic relations within the region would be promoted through the Central Europe Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA).
Trade between Croatia and Switzerland increased 21 per cent in 2005 from the previous year, reaching USD341 million.
As part of his visit to Switzerland, the Croatian minister was scheduled to attend a business forum on Tuesday, organised by Zurcher Kantonalbank, the Croatian Embassy and the Swiss Chamber of Commerce.
