Members of the Council, which is comprised of representatives of the business community, trade unions, science and the government, called on relevant social factors to endorse the government's steps in the implementation of the document.
Under the document, Croatia's economy is expected to grow at an average rate of six per cent over the next seven years, reaching 75 per cent of the average income per capita in the European Union.
The document was presented to the National Council by the state secretary at the Central State Office for the Development Strategy, Martina Dalic. The debate which ensued heard that the document started from similar assumptions and arrived at similar conclusions as the Council's 55 recommendations on how to raise competitiveness.
Members of the Council applauded the document's focus on topics which the Council raised in recent years, such as a smaller and more effective government, the need of lifelong education, higher investment in research and development, reduction of state subsidies to inefficient industries, continuation of privatisation via the capital market, and a more flexible labour market.
