BRUSSLES, May 2 (Hina) - Representatives of five Southeast
European countries from the Stabilisation and Association Process, including
Croatian Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Kolinda Grabar
Kitarovic, in Brussels on Tuesday signed a protocol on cooperation in
establishing a regional school for public administration in which civil
servants would be educated and trained. This is yet another proof of
concrete progress in meeting the Thessaloniki and Salzburg agendas, EU
Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn said after the signing, adding that
reforming the public administration sector in Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina,
Serbia and Montenegro, Macedonia and Albania was an important element in the
process of the region's drawing closer to the European Union.
The protocol foresees the establishment of a network of schools for
public administration in signatory countries so as to improve cooperation in
the region in the public administration sector.
In the first two years, the European Union will finance the initiative
with two million euros from the CARDS programme.
