It was the first time in the 150-year-long history of California's Croats for a Governor of that state to visit the Croatian community, Croatian National Association President Milan Vukovic told Hina.
The event was organised with a view to gathering political and financial support among the Croats for Schwarzenegger's bid to win a second term in office at elections due to take place in November this year.
Vukovic said that about $230,000 was raised at the dinner for the Governor's election activities.
The Croatian National Association, established in 1940, is the umbrella organisation of Croatian emigrants in Los Angeles. According to Vukovic, it has about 30,000 members.
