ZAGREB, Jan 25 (Hina) - Croatian Sea and Transport Minister Bozidar Kalmeta has said that 'Jadrolinija', the largest Croatian company engaged in maritime liner transport of passengers and vehicles in the Adriatic, will most definitely not be privatised in the next five years.

Answering a question of a Social Democratic member of parliament, Minister Kalmeta said on Wednesday that if the parliament adopted a draft law on maritime shipping transport, it would not be possible to privatise the Jadrolinija company until concessions were granted on all maritime shipping lines, the deadline for which is five years.

Whether the company would be privatised after that and when it would be privatised is a matter for further discussions, Kalmeta said.

The state-run company 'Jadrolinija' has been recently thrust into the limelight with the appearance of the bill on coastal shipping lines.

Representatives of the Opposition and workers in the company fear that the new law would pave the way for the privatisation of the company in line with unsuccessful privatisation models from 1990s.
