ZAGREB, Jan 19 (Hina) - The Programmes Council of the national
broadcaster HRT on Thursday set up a three-member task force to analyse the
Council's work and prepare a report on parliamentary conclusions whereby the
parliament rejected reports on the Council's work, stating that it did not work
in line with the Law on HRT. At the end of last year the parliament
discussed the Council's work, noting that it had failed to warn the HRT
director and the programmes leadership about violations of programme principles
and legal obligations.
The Council also failed to point to disregard for relevant laws which
bind Croatian Television to provide true and unbiased information to the
public.
Members of the Council today discussed broadcasts aired since the last
session of the Council and concluded that hosts of some broadcasts had made
omissions and showed bias, and bound the programme leadership to respond to
these objections.
