The programme is co-financed by the Norwegian government, which has provided 1.8 million kuna for this purpose over the past six years.
This year's winterisation project covers 800 households, including about 2,500 persons, in three counties -- Sisak, Karlovac and Lika -- that still suffer from the effects of the 1991-1995 war.
Norway's Ambassador to Croatia, Elisabeth Walaas, was in Petrinja on Wednesday when the relief aid, including food, hygiene accessories, blankets and stoves, was distributed.
Walaas highlighted the two-fold importance of the aid programme. "The aid goes to those in need, and the products come from Croatia, which benefits both the people and the economy," she said.
