ZAGREB, Jan 19 (Hina) - The police have filed criminal charges against journalists and Hague tribunal indictee Domagoj Margetic for posting on the Internet an audio recording of a testimony of Croatian President Stjepan Mesic at the Hague war crimes tribunal, and sent it to the Zagreb Municipal Court.

"The charges were sent yesterday and we expect the case about posting on the Internet the testimony of Stjepan Mesic, who testified as a protected witness in the trial of Bosnian Croat general Tihomir Blaskic, to end with this," spokesman for the Zagreb police Davor Tor said on Thursday.

He said that by posting the testimony given to him by the Hague war crimes tribunal for the needs of his defence, Magetic revealed revealed what he had found out on the trial before the ICTY and which was considered a secret.

Controversial reporter Domagoj Margetic, who is indicted by the UN war crimes tribunal for contempt of court, posted the secret testimony on his Internet site after the police prevented him to play the recording in the offices of veterans' association in Zagreb on 9 January.

The site had closed in compliance with an order of the Zagreb County Court's investigating judge, but Margetic posted his closed web site on a US server to prevent Croatian authorities from controlling its contents.
