ZAGREB, Jan 11 (Hina) - There is no doubt that the police acted in accordance with the law during Monday's raid of the Croatian Association of Disabled War Veterans (HVIDRA) offices in Zagreb and the internal control is investigating the police conduct during the raid, spokesman for the Croatian Interior Ministry Zlatko Mehun said Wednesday.

The internal control is dealing with the police tactics, Mehun told Hina, adding that preliminary findings showed that the police could have handled the situation with more consideration and that the entire case could have been handled differently.

Nobody's responsibility can be prejudged until the investigation is completed, Mehun said. He added that the internal control was expected to complete the investigation tomorrow when the public will be informed about the details of the case.

The spokesman said the case was being wrongly portrayed in the public, stressing that less attention was being paid to the fact that two citizens prevented police officials from entering public premises before the raid.

Following an order issued by an investigating judge, police raided HVIDRA offices in Zagreb on Monday evening to prevent journalist Domagoj Margetic from showing a recording with President Stjepan Mesic's testimony at the Hague tribunal in the association's offices.

The head of the association's branch, Ivan Pandza, HVIDRA member Ante Jurendic, and Margetic were arrested during the raid.

Margetic has been indicted by the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague for publishing in the press a testimony of a protected witness.
