In the continuation of the negotiations, that is in a 120-day period, the independence of Kosovo cannot be thrown into doubt, the president told an extraordinary parliamentary session in Pristina on Monday.
Sejdiu said that in case of no headway being made in the talks after those 120 days, the Kosovo assembly will declare the independence of the province.
He added that announcements of a possible veto by the Russian Federation in the UN Security Council had prevented the ongoing process of the negotiation from being concluded, but stressed that "a positive view about Kosovo has prevailed among a majority of the UN Security Council members".
Sejdiu said that in the continuation of the negotiations, Kosovo representatives would consult the international community and talk with Serbia as two independent states.
Parliamentarians of both the ruling majority and the Opposition were agreed that Kosovo should work together with the international community on declaring its independence. They highlighted that it was important that the United States and the European Union supported the notion about Kosovo's independence.
