MOSTAR/SARAJEVO, July 27 (Hina) - The latest statistics show that the economic situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is very difficult, with per-capita Gross Domestic Product three times lower than in Croatia, the director of the
Bosnian Statistics Agency, Zdenko Milinovic, told a press conference in Sarajevo on Friday.
MOSTAR/SARAJEVO, July 27 (Hina) - The latest statistics show that
the economic situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is very difficult, with
per-capita Gross Domestic Product three times lower than in Croatia, the
director of the Bosnian Statistics Agency, Zdenko Milinovic, told a press
conference in Sarajevo on Friday. Milinovic said that Bosnia and
Herzegovina's per-capita GDP in 2006 was USD 3,298, while at the same time
Croatia had a per-capita GDP of USD 9,600.
Economic experts have been warning for years that Bosnia and
Herzegovina, along with Albania, is the poorest country in Europe.
According to official figures, the unemployment rate in Bosnia and
Herzegovina is nearly 40 per cent.
