According to the statement, Del Ponte underlined the importance of cooperation of the countries of the region and the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague (ICTY), adding that once the ICTY closes down, national prosecutor's offices that will take over war crimes cases will have great responsibility.
All three agreed that not a single crime must go unpunished and that individualising guilt was critical for the continuation of the process of normalisation, cooperation and stability of the region.
The meeting was also attended by the state prosecutors of Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina who underlined the importance of yesterday's conference and their cooperation which includes the exchange of information and documents.
The conference, organised by the Croatian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office under the title "Cooperation among state prosecutors in war crimes prosecution - Existing and future forms of cooperation," focused on issues relating to criminal prosecution of perpetrators of war crimes by national courts.
