Del Ponte will visit Croatia on 12 and 13 July to take part in a regional conference of prosecutors, to be organised by Croatia's Chief State Prosecutor Mladen Bajic. She is also expected to meet President Stjepan Mesic and Prime Minister Ivo Sanader.
Officials at del Ponte's office could not say with certainty if this would be her last visit to Croatia in her capacity as Chief Prosecutor, considering the fact that her term will be prolonged until the end of the year when she will be succeeded by a new chief prosecutor.
Del Ponte will start her tour of the region on Monday with a visit to the Montenegrin capital of Podgorica, where she will meet the head of state, the prime minister and other senior officials in charge of cooperation with the Hague tribunal.
She will then visit Bosnia and Herzegovina to attend the 7th conference of the international association of scientists who study genocide, to be held in Sarajevo. She will also participate in events marking the 1995 massacre in Srebrenica in the Potocari memorial centre on July 11. During the visit, del Ponte will hold a number of meetings with local and international officials.
