During last year's race, 664,00 kuna was raised for the pediatric oncological ward of the Sisters of Mercy hospital in Zagreb, Canadian Ambassador to Croatia, Thomas Marr, told the news conference.
Donations are paid into the Croatian Cancer League's account at the Raiffeisen bank.
Terry Fox was a Canadian humanitarian, athlete, and cancer treatment activist. He became famous for the Marathon of Hope, a cross-Canada run to raise money for cancer research, running with one prosthetic leg. He died of osteosarcoma on June 28, 1981, exactly one month shy of his twenty-third birthday.
The Terry Fox Run is run around Canada and 67 countries in the world every year in September to raise money for cancer research.
