The Democratic Party of Vojvodina Croats (DSHV) welcomes the recent move by the President of Serbia and the chief of the Democratic Party in that country (DS), and stresses that in this way Tadic has undertaken a great risk on the Serbian political scene.
This is also a signal to the political party representing the Croat minority that relations between the DS and the DSHV will be fair, the latter said in the press release.
The president of the Croat National Council in Serbia, Branko Horvat, on Monday also welcomed Tadic's move, expressing hope that his apology would contribute to the reconciliation in the region and "help Croats in Serbia as well as Serbs in Croatia to get rid of fears they have been exposed to".
We must look forward to the future and help both Croatia, as the country of our ancestors and Serbia, the country in which we live, to find their respective places in a democratic European space, as this can push us forward, Horvat said.
During his interview with the Croatian national television (HTV) on 24 June, Tadic offered an apology to Croatian citizens for sufferings members of the Serb people had caused to them.
